Summer Rough Ground Fishing

Summer Rough Ground Fishing

When the water clears up we can use artificals like wreck fishing to fish the inshore rough ground.

luckily for scarborough we have a large amound of inshore rock, scars and gullies. which are ideal cod and Pollock grounds.

the ground around offers some excellent fishing, and on occasions can fish better than the wrecks. but tqackle losses due to snagging can be high, even in calm weather and a placid sea.

The rough ground around scarbourough is not that far away either within 10 minutes we can get you onto a small outcrop of rocky ledges and drop offs. but these areas are only small but sometimes can fish really well.

Within 30 minites we can get you to Grishorpe or Bunistion the rock extends alot further out and across here and we use these area frequently on our 3 hour trips in the summer.

within 45 mins travelling we can get to hayburn wyke or Filey Brigg both marks can fish really well at times and we can use these spots on our longer trips as well as Ravenscar anouther good rocky spot.

the one type of ground we are short of is fishing on is clean ground their is a couple of spots we can use and for more information click here

Tackle

there is several techniques which can be used on the Rough Ground from jigging, jigging with bait, or using shads and jellys.

on the wreck fishing page there is a diagram of how we set our shads up, the same technique is also used to set jellyworms up which are deadly for pollock.
